How can we help?
Answers to common questions, and a real person when you need one.
Getting started
What is EPIC?
A browser extension for Chrome and Edge that explains any website (health, AI visibility, SEO, security, performance and more) and, on paid plans, remembers what changes, reports it and lets you test fixes.
Do I need an account?
No. The free plan works straight after install. Paid plans use a license key from your purchase, with no separate account or password.
Where does EPIC appear?
Click the EPIC icon in your toolbar and it opens in the side panel next to the page. You can also open it in its own tab from the ⋯ menu.
Why does Quick Scan reload the page?
To capture the full page load (every request, header, timing and console message), EPIC reloads the page with capture on. It takes a few seconds.
Chrome shows “EPIC started debugging this browser”. Is that normal?
Yes. Chrome shows that bar whenever an extension uses the debugger API, which EPIC uses only during a scan to capture network activity. It disappears when the scan finishes, and you can close it at any time.
History & monitoring
Does monitoring run when my computer is off?
No. EPIC runs inside your browser, so scheduled scans happen while the browser is open. Any check that was missed runs the next time you open it.
How long is history kept?
Observe: 30, 60 or 90 days (your choice). Modify: up to a year. EPIC warns you before anything is removed so you can download it, and the optional weekly export saves a permanent CSV to your Downloads folder.
Are Quick Scan and scheduled-scan scores worked out the same way?
Yes. Both use the same scoring, so the same page gets the same scores either way. EPIC compares a scan only with earlier scans of the same page, so scanning your contact page is never compared with your home page.
How do alerts reach me?
As browser notifications on the computer where EPIC is installed, and in History → Alerts. EPIC has no server, so it doesn't send email or text messages. The weekly digest is a notification too.
Is my history backed up? What if I change computer?
History lives in your browser on that computer and isn't copied anywhere else. Turn on the weekly export (History → Storage & Downloads) to keep a CSV copy in your Downloads folder, or download everything as JSON at any time. EPIC can't load an export back in yet, so a new computer starts with a fresh history.
How much disk space does history use?
Very little: a few kilobytes per scan. History → Storage & Downloads shows the exact amount.
Licenses & billing
I bought a plan. How do I activate it?
Open EPIC → ⋯ → License, paste the key from your receipt email and click Activate. See Activate a license.
How do I cancel or update my card?
EPIC → ⋯ → License → Manage billing opens the Lemon Squeezy customer portal. You keep access until the end of the paid period.
How do I upgrade from Observe to Modify?
Open EPIC → ⋯ → License and click Change plan. It opens the billing portal; sign in with the email you bought EPIC with and switch the subscription to Modify. You keep the same license key and a single subscription, and EPIC unlocks Modify when you return to it (or click Recheck License). If the portal doesn't offer the change, email support@edgeproworkbench.com and we'll switch your plan for you. If you bought Modify separately and received a new key, paste it under Have a different license key? and cancel the Observe subscription from Manage billing.
Can I use my license on another computer?
Yes, up to 6 browsers at once (each browser on each computer counts as one). To move it, choose Deactivate Device on the old one, then activate on the new one.
I'm removing EPIC or resetting my browser. Do I need to do anything first?
Yes. Open EPIC → ⋯ → License and click Deactivate Device before you uninstall. That frees the slot. If you remove EPIC without doing it, that browser keeps one of your 6 slots, and activating again later uses another. Ordinary updates don't use a slot. If you run out, email support and we'll help.
EPIC says it couldn't verify my license
EPIC checks your license about once a day. If it can't reach the licensing service, paid features keep working for 3 days. Connect to the internet and choose Recheck License. If the message says the subscription ended, renew from Manage billing.
Privacy
Does EPIC send my website data anywhere?
No. Everything EPIC captures and analyses stays in your browser. The only things that leave your device are the license check for paid plans (your key and a device ID, sent to Lemon Squeezy) and, if you run it, the optional DNS lookup (just the hostname, sent to Google Public DNS).
Can EPIC see my passwords?
EPIC reads the pages you scan, like the browser's own developer tools do. It masks secrets it finds, never stores them, and never sends page content anywhere. Saved API snippets in Modify are encrypted on your device.
